The best corned beef sandwiches in town-- the Dinty Moore is my favorite. I RARELY take a carry-out... but this sandwich is one big girl who usually get's some late-night lovin.

When I want a good Reuben this is the place to go. The Reuben is big, it could almost be a meal for two. I'm only giving my rating based on corned beef sandwiches because I've never tried anything else on their menu, besides the beer. Guinness and corned beef how can you go wrong!

This place has the greatest corned beef sandwiches around!!! Been coming here for over 10 years and have never had a bad corned beef sandwich. Service can be a bit slow at times, but when the sandwich is as good as it is, it really doesn't matter.

They make a great Cornbeef sandwich - the onion rings are really good too. Going to try the Steak sandwich today. There is a full stocked bar, but this is more a restaurant.

Good food, service is good. Not a fan of their fried stuff French fries or onion rings but I suggest not wasting valuable stomach space on that anyway when the sandwiches will create one hell of a foodgazm all their own.

My first experience will not be my last. My son-in-law and daughter have been telling about this place and I went with Kyle and was totally satisfied. I started with the best French onion soup and it was the best I ever had and then had a very tasty corn beef classic. Kyle had his corn beef done in the Mt. Clemens style. So we each shared half of our sandwhich. They were both great. I will return soon with the misses. I hear the ribs are great and I will have them on my next visit.

Best corned beef in town! This has been a great place for my family to go! We all enjoy it and to make it even better it's great every time we go. Always hot, fresh, not dried out corned beef. Most of the time the waitresses are friendly... Some seem cranky and that they don't want to be there. Great chicken noodle soup too.

Great and large corn beef sandwhichs. It has been alot better since ppl can't smoke inside.

Keno, corned beef, and great service. Val (the non-grouchy waitress) took great care of us the whole time. This place is a family friendly sports bar that does delicious corned beef sandwiches. We had the Dinty Moore reuben which actually is their corned beef sandwich with coleslaw and thousand island. Delicious and filling! The onion chips are a tasty treat and they have a good selection of beers on tap. PS: Steve says hi! And he docked one star because the bartender is grouchy.

I gave Jimmy Dee's 4 stars with this review because today was only my 1st time there and it isnt fair to give it 5 stars, yet. What if I go there next and get crappy service and food? That certainly was NOT the situation today. Me and a friend met there for lunch, because she had heard a lot about their corned beef sandwiches. Indeed, they have a sign out front stating they serve "famous corned beef". Thats enough for us, we were in! I ended up ordering a Bourbon Steak wrap, with fries and a soup or salad for $5.99. The salad was nice - looked like it came out of a bag you'd get at your grocer, but whatevs. It had cheese, onions, croutons, nice fresh cucumbers and delicious ranch (and trust me, Im a ranch snob!). The salad was big enough we split it. And then came out the 1/2 order of onion rings I ordered as an appetizer (note to self: Do not order appetizers again as the meals are HUGE). Anyways, the onion rings were just delicious! The breading on them is panko-like and they were delicious...Now onto the main course. My friend ordered the corned beef and my GOD that thing is huge. Shes a big eater (Dont tell her I told you that!) and she could only eat half. And that was stuffing herself full. She stated that the corned beef was very fresh and wasnt dried out, like shes had at other places. The bread was very fresh (made in house?) and she kept on saying how good it was and how she couldnt wait to go back and get another next week. My bourbon steak wrap was also huge in proportion, but it was absolutely stunningly delicious. The steak was sooo tender and the bourbon sauce was a little heavy, but not strong. I added sauteed onions to the wrap and glad I did. The wrap itself seems to be made in house. It was great. Also, a huge serving of fries accompanied the wrap. I, as well as my friend, brought 1/2 home for my better half. He loved it! The place has a full bar, and also a side room which looks to take spillover when they get busy, or even a room for meetings/parties. The establishment was very very clean and the server we had (ironically a girl I went to HS with) was friendly and checked back often to refill our drinks and make sure we were ok. We are going back this week, but right now I am giving the big "go ahead" to try this place out. It is definitely worth it. Updates to follow....

Ive been sick with strep for about three days now so I'm finally getting to the point where solid foods are do-able again, and boy did a giant rueben sound good! I placed my order over the phone that consisted of a rueben and some onion petals and my friend got a turkey ruben and a cup of french onion, I had requested that bills be separate and the lady on the phone sounded chipper enough. My buddy and I pulled up around quarter after 9 and the place looked like it was closed. When we walked in we were given a nice icy greeting by the famed waitress in the Kaline jersey. When it came time to pay, my friend realized that she had forgotten her wallet in her car, so I apologized and politely asked if she could just combine the two bills. It was at this point that I became concerned for our Kaline supporting bar maid, she rolled her eyes so far back into her head that I thought she was about to start seizing! Without uttering a word, she huffily nabbed the two bills, turned to her POS system, punched a few keys and threw the newly combined bill down in front of us. After that, I figured two could play this game, and requested a couple sides of ranch...I don't even like ranch. I sure hope this woman stops at the local pharmacy on the way home and purchases herself some extra strength laxative..shes going to need some help getting rid of that redwood thats lodged up her ass. Anywho, Sandwiches were tasty, and the onion petals were your run of the mill deep fried fair, but BEWARE of the french onion! Twas barely beef bullion flavored water with a few strands of what could have been onion at some point floating about. Cheers!

Fabulous Reuben sandwich! I grew up in NJ with quality deli meats, and I am very fussy and discriminating when it comes to corned beef. The corned beef in this sandwich absolutely melted in your mouth. It was sliced thinly, lean and very flavorful. The sandwich is piled high with the meat between 2 slices of Swiss cheese and thick (toasted and buttered) rye bread. Served with mustard, horseradish and/or thousand island on the side. The biggest challenge was getting my mouth around the thick sandwich! Great service. Can't wait to return and try their pastrami.....

So I had completely missed out on this place because it's on Groesbeck and I rarely do Groesbeck - Man have I been missing out! Things that come to mind about the Corned Beef: WHOA. You've got to be kidding me. Is that Rye Texas Toast? I'm gonna need a to-go box. I got a Reuben, it was as big as my head and I think it was like $8, which is like $4 cheaper than many of the surrounding Corned Beef places here. The meat was tender and no gristle to speak of. Could have used a bit more kraut, but I think that is more about me than the sandwich. Good cheese, heavy thousand island dressing on the side. Oh, yeah, that is 2 massive slices of Rye Bread Texas Toast. To die for. Can't quite figure out the surroundings here. Dive bar-ish? Anyway you can get a cocktail with your sandwich soooo.. BONUS. They have Fat Tire and some other micro-brews on tap, if you are into weird beer (like me). Waitress was very nice and knew her stuff. Fast, friendly. The only way you fail here is if you don't stop in. If you're too classy for this place, get a carry out.

Had a Rueben and some curly fries. Rye bread was sliced thick with caraway seeds. Not grilled though...more like warmed. Corned beef was tasty and kraut was tangy. Overall a pretty good sandwich. I guess my only complaint was the amount of flies in the bar area.

Dave P.
Wow what a Great Sandwich !! Plenty of parking, a Friendly and great staff. The staff comes over just enough to make sure everything is good. Know hovering over you while your talking or eating. The place is deceiving from they outside, maybe a little dive bar ish, but this place has Great Food !!

One star for the waitress. Lisa is the least friendly waitress ever. She had a way of making you feel unwelcome, like you were a bother. We literally decided to just finish our drinks and eat elsewhere. I know the food is delicious, but not worth it.

Jeff B.
Our waitress today seemed to have a real contempt for customers. She seemed totally put our by having to wait on us and others around us. She was ill mannered and rude and truly took away the pleasure of dining at Jimmy Dee's. Her server number was Server #24 on the check. This server needs to be 86'd. She is not a people person and she is doing her employer more harm than good.

How can you not go wrong with Jimmy Dees? The ruebens are on point. Ive never had bad food and Ive been coming here for years. Ive had fried, baked, grilled and everything was delicious. I would get the pepper jack cheese balls next time you stop in. My only complaint is that I refuse to order carry out because the cross eyed bartender can be kindof a bitch.

I come here for the Reuben sandwich and it is always spot on. Tried it for the first time with a little bit of the house horseradish and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it, all you need is a small portion trust me. I always sit at the bar, the bartenders have always been attentive and aware every time I have visited. Obviously one way or another try the corned beef.

Always a great corned beef, you get more tan you should eat but it is so good you can't stop. Brought a friend with me for his first visit and he said "I paid less tan I would at McDonald's and this is good food"

Less than thrilled with our food from here tonight. Sandwich bread was toasted but soggy as can be. "Au jus" was strained beef soup broth of some sort, never seen Au jus with a red tint that smelled like Campbell's soup broth before. Anyway it was quite a let down after not having eaten here in 15 years or so. If I were to eat here again it would have to be while seated there so I could send things back as needed.

Great French Onion soup in a very long time! I have eaten here several times and usually get a variation of their famous Reuben. This time I orders the Wing Ding basket which was very good. I recommend Jimmy Dees to anyone and love the proximity to my customer down the street. Killer Rueben!
(4)
Jason N.
Very good corned beef, and a lot of it. I like that it's not super fatty like some other places. I haven't had anything else from Jimmy's because I see no reason to fix something that isn't broken. Fries are just ok, I'd recommend getting onion rings with your corned beef sandwich.

What can I say about Jimmie Dee's that hasn't already been covered? It's a bar with a typical bar menu and Keno. You get huge portions and the prices are very reasonable all while supporting the State of Michigan School Aid Fund. True to most bars, JDs has a large fried menu. Everything from fish to mushrooms to onion rings (which are dynamite so get the 1lb. portion!) The sandwiches are huge and what Jimmie Dee's is famous for. It's good but is Mudgie's or Bronx Deli kind of good? Part of the reason is 1000 Island Dressing. Try Russian Dressing please. Not really. In my opinion, it's the burgers that are the real winner here. Most burger choices are a 1/2 pounders. For entrees, try the perch dinner. If you go for Friday fish fry and order the AYCE, expect a sub par fish and chips experience as you get diamond shaped fish filets. However, people love it because JDs packs them in. I've never had dessert here. The menu somewhat bothers me. JD's routinely touts itself as "legendary" and "award winning." No doubt, the Macomb Daily has offered JD some praise but short of also using the term "epic," I think an increase in food quality and less reliance on quantity would make Jimmie Dee's a much better establishment. If you go, you won't be disappointed but I know this place can do better. Really, my review is more like 3.75 stars. Jimmy Dee's packs them in so expect a full house on Friday and Saturday peak dining hours.
